Moxie Coffee Co. is a specialty micro roastery and bakery in Phoenix, Arizona, focused on sourcing rare and uncommon coffees from producers around the world. Founded in 2021, they highlight novel processing methods and direct trade relationships while roasting light to showcase each coffee's distinct character.
Matt Heltzel grew up in a small town in South Dakota and moved to Chicago where he fell in love with specialty coffee. He then mvoed to Phoenix, where a 2017 trip to Guatemala's CODECH cooperative while working for another coffee company planted the seed for Moxie. He opened Moxie Coffee Co. in early 2021 with a vision to share uncommon coffee, sourcing rare lots directly from producers, exploring novel fermentation and processing methods, and bringing adventure and discovery to every cup. At its core, Moxie is built on four pillars: community and belonging, respect for the source, dedication to craft, and honoring the journey from farm to cup.
