Varraco Coffee Roasters

Varraco takes its name from the Spanish word for wild boar and the Tagalog barako, a nod to the bold spirit of both the animal and the coffee. The pursuit of specialty coffee began in the partners' cycling days: one of them, who grew up in Lipa, Batangas, would bring barako coffee back from visits to the Philippines. Barako, also known as Liberica, was a staple for all of them growing up, loved for its strong yet smooth taste. After opening The Bike Shop Coachella Valley, they built a cafe where cyclists could gather and where they could introduce others to specialty coffee from the Philippines and other regions, their little taste of home. The mission is to support small coffee farmers by making their coffee known worldwide, and to make coffee from the Philippines and Southeast Asia an acclaimed specialty and a regular option at home and in cafes.
