Hog Heaven Coffee

Hog Heaven Coffee is located in Nīnole, on the eastern slope of Mauna Kea at roughly 1,400 feet elevation — part of the lush, storied Hāmākua Coast of Hawaiʻi's Big Island, with the Pacific stretching to one horizon and Mauna Kea rising above the clouds to the other. Growing and selling coffee was never part of the plan. The first years were spent clearing the land, and with the help of their local community began cultivating coffee trees — eventually becoming one of the few single-source growers producing 100% Hāmākua coffee. Every bean is grown on the farm , hand-picked at peak ripeness, then pulped, sorted, washed, dried, milled, roasted, and packaged to order by the same hands on the same land. The Hog Heaven Coffee name has two inspirations — one delicious, one a little wild. The first is the feeling of utter bliss that comes from an exceptional cup of coffee. The second is a piece of the farm's real history: when they first arrived, wild boars had other ideas about the coffee orchard, rooting through and taking out several trees. With good friends, a new fence, and a lot of determination, they solved the boar problem and got the farm back on track — and in a roundabout way, those wild boars helped name Hog Heaven Coffee. Today the farm is home to two people, four dogs, and six cows, all rescues.
