TEAM Bean Extra-Ordinary Coffee is a family run roastery in Lincoln, Nebraska that roasts only organic beans, sells nothing older than two weeks and delivers free locally. TEAM stands for The Ends And Means, and profits help support TEAM Living, the family's 501(c)(3) nonprofit, along with other local nonprofits.
TEAM Bean is run by Todd Schmeeckle and his family in Lincoln, Nebraska. With seven children, five of them adopted from foster care, the family says it learned the power of love, interdependence and community first hand, and built both of its ventures around the same idea: that there should be a just means to every end. TEAM Living, their 501(c)(3) nonprofit, shares life with people who are struggling with addiction, homelessness or simply feeling alone, offering support and, when there is room, a safe place to live and belong. TEAM Bean Extra-Ordinary Coffee is how they turn something as simple as a great cup of coffee into hope, dignity, purpose and a little bit of money for that work. They roast in Lincoln so the beans are always fresh, buy only organic and try to make sure growers get a fair deal, use eco friendly practices and packaging where they can, and publish a page for each coffee explaining who grew it. Roasting from home also lets them care for their family while creating work for their adult and teen children with special needs and for other community members with Extra-Ordinary abilities.
