About
Guide Roasting Company is a family-owned artisan coffee roaster in Midlothian, Virginia, roasting fresh small-batch single-origin coffees and blends. Founded in 2018 by Gary and Julie Kratzer, it also makes GreenPods, 100% compostable and plastic-free coffee pods for K-cup brewers.
Our Story
Guide Roasting Company grew out of Gary and Julie Kratzer's dream of building a family business together. After an espresso machine arrived as an 8th wedding anniversary gift and coffee became part of their daily rhythm, Gary trained at roasting school and the couple bought their first small roaster, launching Guide Roasting Company in 2018. Today they roast fresh, small-batch coffee at their facility and tasting room in Midlothian, Virginia, just southwest of Richmond, and also run sister company Green Pod Coffee Packing, makers of 100% compostable coffee pods.
