For more than 35 years, San Juan Island Roasters has been a small-batch roaster of specialty-grade coffee on San Juan Island. We source exceptional beans from some of the world’s most renowned growing regions and roast each batch to highlight its unique character. Visit our waterfront café in Friday Harbor, just across from the ferry landing, or enjoy the taste of the islands at home with freshly roasted beans shipped right to your door.
Our Story
San Juan Island Roasters has been a cornerstone of the Friday Harbor community since 1990, when it began as San Juan Coffee Roasting Company. As the island’s longest-running coffee shop and original specialty roaster, it has always focused on roasting exceptional, small-batch coffee from specialty-grade Arabica beans sourced around the world. In 2022, founders Steve and Irene Herring passed the business to the Perrollaz family, who continue its legacy as a true family-run operation. Located just steps from the Friday Harbor ferry landing, the waterfront café blends craft, community, and island tradition—serving coffee roasted on-island by co-owner Evan Perrollaz, who also serves as the town’s mayor, with every cup reflecting the spirit of the San Juan Islands.
