Victrola Coffee Roasters was founded in 2000 by Chris Sharp on Seattle's Capitol Hill, at a time when the neighborhood was still emerging as the creative heart of the city. Named after the iconic phonograph brand, Victrola was conceived as a place where coffee, music, and community could come together. The original cafe on 15th Avenue quickly became a gathering spot for artists, musicians, and coffee lovers. Chris's approach to sourcing was ahead of its time. He traveled to origin countries to meet farmers face-to-face, building direct relationships long before the practice became widespread in specialty coffee. This commitment to knowing the people behind each bean gave Victrola's coffees a depth and consistency that set them apart in Seattle's increasingly crowded cafe scene. More than two decades later, Victrola remains one of Capitol Hill's most beloved institutions. The roastery has grown to include multiple locations, but the founding spirit endures: great coffee served in a warm, welcoming space where neighbors become friends. Chris's early investment in direct trade relationships continues to pay dividends in the quality of every cup Victrola serves.
