Indianapolis is the center of Indiana's specialty coffee scene, with 12 active independent roasters in our directory anchoring a downtown, Mass Ave, and Fountain Square specialty corridor. Calvin Fletcher, Helm Coffee Company, Blue Mind Coffee Roasting, and Civic Coast Coffee serve a market that's grown alongside Indy's restaurant scene over the last decade. Carmel — just north of Indianapolis — has Indie Coffee Roasters, one of the better-known suburban operators in the Midwest. Greenwood's Coffeehouse Five and Zionsville's Julian Coffee Roaster's extend the metro. Utopian specifically has built a national wholesale program and a reputation for technical roasting work. South Bend — anchored by Notre Dame — has Revenant Coffee, Bendix Coffee Roasters, Quad Coffee Lab, and Theta Ridge Coffee — a scene that punches above the city's profile. West Lafayette's Greyhouse Coffee & Supply Co. serves the Purdue community, and Lafayette's Wanderlust Coffee extends the corridor. The northern Indiana specialty scene is denser than the city sizes would suggest.

Beyond the major metros, Indiana's coffee scene reaches across the state. Bloomington — home to Indiana University — has Hopscotch Coffee Roastery and Needmore Coffee Roasters, a two-roaster college-town pairing serving a market that's been engaged with specialty coffee for years.
