Indianapolis is the center of Indiana's specialty coffee scene, with 16 active independent roasters in our directory anchoring a downtown, Mass Ave, and Fountain Square specialty corridor. Bee Coffee Roasters, Blue Mind Coffee Roasting, Brickhouse Coffee Co., Calvin Fletcher, Civic Coast Coffee, Command Coffee, Helm Coffee Company, Hubbard & Cravens Coffee, Ice House Coffee Roasters, Illumine Coffee, Limelight Coffee Roasters, and Tinker Coffee Co. serve a market that's grown alongside Indy's restaurant scene over the last decade. Carmel, just north of Indianapolis, has Indie Coffee Roasters. Greenwood's Coffeehouse Five and Zionsville's Julian Coffee Roaster's extend the metro. The Indy metro's coffee scene tends toward cafe-roastery hybrids, with operators running their own retail alongside wholesale programs that reach across the state.
Fort Wayne runs a serious specialty scene of its own. Old Crown Coffee Roasters, Utopian Coffee Co., Conjure Coffee Roastery & Cafe, Hempton Roast Coffee, and Yellow Cup Coffee serve a city where the coffee culture has grown alongside the downtown rebuild. Utopian specifically has built a national wholesale program. South Bend (anchored by Notre Dame) has Revenant Coffee, Bendix Coffee Roasters, and Quad Coffee Lab, a scene that punches above the city's profile. West Lafayette's Greyhouse Coffee & Supply Co. serves the Purdue community, and Lafayette's Wanderlust Coffee extends the corridor. The northern Indiana specialty scene is denser than the city sizes would suggest.
Beyond the major metros, Indiana's coffee scene reaches across the state. Bloomington, home to Indiana University, has Brown County Coffee, Hopscotch Coffee Roastery, Needmore Coffee Roasters, Sober Joe Coffee, Tov Coffee Company, and Woodsman Coffee Co., a college-town roster serving a market that's been engaged with specialty coffee for years. Goshen's Embassy Coffee, Refinery Coffee Company, and Vision Roasters serve the Mennonite-heritage town in the north. New Albany's Kolkin Coffee anchors the Indiana side of the Louisville metro. Lawrenceburg's Funny Farm Coffee Co. extends Greater Cincinnati into Indiana. Dyer's Coffee by Gillespie LLC and Michigan City's Maple City Roasters cover the northwest reach. The 94 active independent Indiana roasters cover a state whose coffee map runs from the Ohio River to Lake Michigan.
