About
Wood-Fire roasted coffee created using old world techniques with a modern twist.
Our Story
When we learned the majority of all coffee beans in the world are roasted using petroleum-based heat or electric hot air, we decided to find a better way. This focused exploration led us to discover a far more healthful way to roast. We designed and hand-built a one of a kind roaster that uses select hardwoods. This makes BoRo one of only a few committed roasters in the US using this ancient and proven method. The hardwoods we use produce a gentle, moist heat allowing the oils and flavors to develop at a slower more natural rate. This eliminates the bitter aftertaste that can overpower a quality bean. Bohemian Roastery sources all green beans directly from socially and environmentally responsible farms, Once you have experienced all the flavors a coffee bean has to offer, without all the titrated acids and altered PH, we are sure you will understand why we do what we do. Cheers! The Akers Family.
