Est. 2018
Margin Coffee Roasters has been Albany's living room since 2018 and now runs three cafes in the Mid-Willamette Valley. Coffee is roasted in house at the Santiam Hwy roastery and coffee lab, where customers are welcome to watch production from the front door or join a weekly cupping. Pastries, sandwiches and desserts are made in house too. The lineup runs from light single origins through four house blends, from the light-medium Bellwether to the Dark Horse, plus a sugarcane-process Colombian decaf. Three locations: the downtown Albany flagship at 206 2nd Ave SW in a 1906 building, the roastery and coffee lab cafe at 2943 Santiam Hwy SE, and a new cafe in downtown Lebanon at 878 S Main Street.
In Autumn 2017 Gabe Anderson set out to start a coffee shop. With some start up experience and a vision for a community space, he reached out to the people around him who balance him out, and together they took the first steps. After a few closed doors, his friend Jon pointed out some opportunities in Albany, and before long they were painting walls, buying equipment and laying out what has since been deemed "Albany's Living Room." The name carries the whole idea: like margins on a page, a little room around the edges of life makes it a lot more comfortable. A healthy local community was always the goal, so everyone is welcome through the doors. Gabe married his friend Marilla in March 2019, and the two now run Margin together, with three little ones keeping their need for coffee very real.
